Update: If you see black bars in the Home Menu, exit Facebook and avoid using it for an hour. The bug is caused by the cache of the previous version which is self correcting.

This new update, Firmware 3.01, will fix the following:

• Fixed a privacy issue
• Age of contacts in birthdays
• crash problems for the “Friends” section during scrolling up and down the list

“I plan to have it in the next major update, the 3.1. It will be the same kind of notifications you get on the website. I probably won’t right off the bat give you chat notifications. If you’ve ever used Facebook’s SMS notifications, you can have pretty granular control and it will be the same level of notification in terms of whose notifications you see and what categories you see.”

Saved, site-wide search
“I hope but I can’t promise to get that into the 3.1 update,” Hewitt said. “We’re still working on getting that into the API. I’m also hoping to let you save a search to your home screen.”

No word yet on the planned release date for Facebook 3.1; however, we will let you know as soon as anymore information is available.

And after an exhausting wait to get here is the long awaited update to Facebook, the mobile application for iPhone that provides access to one of the most popular social network present in the world. As we had already said several times, is an update full of news that adds many new features, fixes several bugs and introduces a complete and revised user interface. Facebook has submitted the updated Facebook 3.0 for iPhone to Apple already. It’s not sure when will it get approved, but Facebook 3.0 for iPhone is a major upgrade. It features with new user interface with 9 boxes. You will be able to “like” friends’ status or photos. If you own iPhone 3GS, you will be able to upload videos to Facebook. That’s amazing.
