Apple is improving the App Store approval standard?

Posted by

There were so many great apps rejected without solid reason. After the Google Voice is rejected, lots of people feel angry about App Store. Apple needs to do something or otherwise the App Store system will be destroyed.

Star Mobile has developed an app which shows the HOPE image of Obama. Apple rejected it because of ridicules public figures. Suddenly, Apple knows they are stupid wrong. Apple sent an email to the developer saying the app would be okay now. Note the email uses an actual name. It said,

After further investigation, we have decided that Start Mobile Wallpaper Gallery is in compliance with our SDK agreement & PLA. We would like to ask that you resubmit Start Mobile Wallpaper Gallery at your earliest convenience if you would still like this application considered for the App Store. Please let me know once your binary has been uploaded and I will ensure an expedited review.

iPhone Developer Program

It seems Apple knows developers are angry. This is a good start to see the approval standard is changing. It’s never too late to correct mistakes.

They want to make the games costs anywhere from $0.99 to $4.99. In addition to Microsoft, even Sony is trying to expand with its “AppStore”, convincing developers to create iPhone-specific applications for the PSP.

The system will not fail an approval process but will be mainly focused on quality control.

Philip Schiller said they know how us feel about the lame App Store approval standard

Posted by

The approval standard of App Store apps is “broken”. Some apps are rated as 17+ which is not necessary. Some great apps like Google Voice is rejected because Apple wants to protect the interest of AT&T, probably. Developers feel depressed and they don’t know how to develop apps that could meet Apple’s lame standard. Some have switched to Google Android which is open-source and more easy to deal with.

Thank god. Apple knows and cares about it. Steven Frank, co-founder of Mac-developer Panic, boycotting iPhone because of Google Voice app rejection. He wrote about it on his blog, and Apple reads it. Apple senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing Philip Schiller wrote an email to Steven and said they are working on it.

he said: “we’re listening to your feedback”. Not all of my suggested solutions were viable, he said, but they were taking it all in as they continue to evolve the app store.

Steven feels a little bit surprised about that. But, he will keep on boycotting iPhone unless Apple fix the problem. Apple could probably “destroy” the iPhone. iPhone is great because of the amazing developers making cool apps. If stupid Apple keeps rejecting them, that means iPhone will not have good apps and other users won’t use it anymore.

A couple new and interesting cases of App Store rejection, including the stripping Perfect Acumen and owner, Khalid Shaik, of their developer account, and ejecting their 900+ application already in the store, and the blanket rejection of E-Books — both nebulously tied to copyright infringement or the fear thereof.
Details after the break…

First one comes via MobileCrunch and tells of the aforementioned Khalid Shaik who, using a team of 26 Indian and Pakistani based programmers, turned out a mind-numbing (in more ways than one) 943 apps in the last year. These apps aggregated text or images from the Internet around topics like army news, wrestling news, sexy ladies, etc. and typically sold for $4.99. The only problem, of…
